2010 Programme
Our teachers this year are Sarah Pennington, Gilo, Dee Jarlett, Ali Orbaum,
Su Lewis, Glen,
Wynona Kaspar and our special guest teacher Polly Bolton.

Dee and Ali have been arranging
songs for choirs and teaching harmony together for 15 years. They
co-direct Bristol’s huge and lovely Gasworks Choir, have performed with
and directed the much acclaimed acappella groups Naked Voices and Sweet
Soul Sisters, and organised and taught on Sing For Water West. They have
also run numerous international singing holidays and workshops with the
Sing Your Socks Off bunch. Popular for their fast and fun team teaching,
and the quality of their arrangements, Dee and Ali love this particular
Dorset spot and will be choosing some fantastic material for their first
time at HeartSound.
Gilo and Sarah
have been
leading groups around Dorset and the UK for ten years. They also lead
singing retreat weekends in various centres - and enjoy teaching sacred
songs and chants from many different traditions. They are known for their
gentle humour and spirit of fun. Gilo is coordinating the Voice Teachers'
programme at this year's HeartSound.
Polly has sung for many years in folk and jazz bands. In 1995,
she started teaching singing workshops, inspired by a
Frankie Armstrong workshop she had attended a year earlier. She started a
community choir in 1998 in Ludlow which is still going strong. Polly has
written and arranged many songs for choirs and voice workshops and made
several teaching CDs. In 1998 Polly built Oak Barn Workshop Centre on the
site of her organic plant nursery, as a space to hold workshops and
courses. For over 11 years she and fellow singer and Natural Voice
Practitioner, Sue Harris, together with Milly Cain, have run singing
retreats and summer singing camps. A full list of Polly’s recordings can
be found on her website
www.pollybolton.co.uk and details of her courses on
www.oak-barn.co.uk
Su
has been singing all her life. She sings with two choirs,
performs regularly with a cappella group 'Bagatelle', and writes and
arranges songs for small groups and choirs. She has been a natural voice
teacher for 5 years, currently working with Island Voices, a Dorset
community choir on Portland. At camp she will be teaching simple rounds
and soulful songs with luscious harmonies.
Glen is teaching Dances
of Universal Peace, a beautiful form of sacred dance that uses mantra,
melody and simple body movements to bring participants to a state of joy
and back in touch with their own true nature. Join Glen in an alchemical
and ambrosial celebration of the sacred heart of Hinduism, Buddhism,
Zoroastrianism, Sikhism and the Abrahamic, Aramaic, Native American and
Goddess traditions.
Wynona will also be
leading Dances of Universal peace as well as facilitating the early
morning session using Bhajans and meditation to bring us gently into each
day.
